Are Catholics Worshiping Idols?

I realize that what you are about to read, is highly controversial, but I believe it needs to be brought up. I believe that most Catholics are idol worshipers, in other words, pagans.

First, I want to start out by saying that the Catholic church teaches their congregation to bow down before the statues while praying. This goes against God’s word.

Exodus 20:5, You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected–even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

Leviticus 26:1, “You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the LORD your God.

The Catholic church also says they should pray not only to Jesus, but Mary and all the other statues in their church. This also goes against the Bible.

John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The next point I would like to make is that people bow down to the pope and kiss his hand. Now, I understand that bowing down to someone is sometimes done out of respect, not worship (such as bowing down to the Queen of England out of respect) but, if you are going so far as to kiss the Pope’s hand? It seems like Catholics see the Pope as someone who comes second to God. In fact, one of their reasons for bowing down to the Pope is that God is in him. But, the Bible says that Jesus dwells in all of us that are saved. So, then why should we give so much honor to the Pope if he is not God but a person just like the rest of us. In the Bible, it says that Jesus, as great and all powerful as he is, was so humble that he got down on his knees and washed the feet of his disciples. This shows that we are to be humble and not expect more honor or respect because of our position.

Ephesians 3:17, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, he is Jesus Christ himself” –Catholic National July 1895.

Isaiah 37:20, Now, LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, LORD, are the only God.”

Just a month or so ago, Pope Francis declared that Hell is a myth! He said that a burning Hell is not possible as that goes against the idea of a compassionate and loving God.  In fact, I’ll put it in his exact words:

“God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity and God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device and hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God.” – See more at:

But, what does the Bible say about Hell?

Revelation 21:8, But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Matthew 13:50, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The Roman Catholic Church said that Peter is the rock on which their church was founded on.  Jesus did say that he would be the one to start the church.

1 Corinthians 3:11, For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

These are not the only things that make them pagans. They believe you get to heaven through good works. Galations 2:16 says, know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. And, Ephesians 2:8, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–
 With all that being said, I believe Catholics are being led by wrong teachings.
