God Wants You to Take Care of Your Body

Did you know more than one third of people who live in the U.S are overweight? A lot of times when people don’t want to eat healthy, they usually give one of these two reasons, 1) I can eat whatever I want since it’s my body or 2) I only live once.
The best motivation, I believe is, God. God wants us to eat healthy and take care of our bodies. So, if God wants us to take care of ourselves, isn’t that a great reason to do it? We’re pleasing God when we do so. Below are some good reasons to take care of your body.

1. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, whom you have from God? You are not your own,” When you don’t take care of yourself, you aren’t taking care of God’s temple. And, if we belong to God, shouldn’t we take good care of what belongs to Him? (I recommend you read the whole passage, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20)
2. We have so much value to God. When God sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross, He paid the price for our sins. We must be VERY valuable to God if He sent His Son to die for us. Shouldn’t we take care of something that is very valuable?
3. You’ll have more energy. When you take care of your body, you are healthier, thus you are more equipped for what God has in plan for your life.
Jeremiah  29:11  says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Now, it’s not just about losing weight, eating healthy or working out. Our main goal for taking care of our body should be to honor and please God. I hope this inspires you to make some healthy changes to your life!
