Some Christians feel it is okay to to cuss. That is why I’ve decided to talk about why, maybe it’s best for us not to.
Some of you may say that the Bible doesn’t say we shouldn’t cuss. That’s right. But, does that mean it’s okay to cuss? No. Here are some reasons why:
First of all, even if the Bible doesn’t specifically say not use cuss words, it seems to say we shouldn’t. Here are are a few verses belonging to this topic:
Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helping for building up others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
2 Timothy 2:16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.
These verses alone seem to be trying to tell us that we should speak only kind, encouraging words. Not only may these verses be referring to foul language, but also gossiping. I’m pretty convinced that using a cuss word isn’t very uplifting and doesn’t do anything for the other person you’re talking too, unless you’re trying to hurt the other person. So, I believe it’s quite best not to use cuss words.
